Job Description

About Tiny Easy:
Tiny Easy’s B2B Saas application, the “3D Tiny House Designer”, helps tiny house & small home builders to design & build their projects easier by simplifying the sales, design, customization & plan creation process into a simple design software purpose-built for tiny homes.
Our niche CAD software for the tiny house industry gives builders and designers purpose-built tools to design their houses in a 3D drag-and-drop environment, cutting down design time from 50 hours per project to 1-2 hours. The software automatically generates construction-ready plans to be used by the builders to start the construction process.
The 3 three founders (Laurin, Eujenne & Till) created Tiny Easy in 2021. We have been in the tiny house and design industry for years; After creating many products in the tiny house industry and talking to hundreds of customers & builders, we have found the need for design software that simplifies the process for these specific homes. Since then, the software has rapidly grown to full-fledged CAD software used by builders & individuals worldwide.
We want to continue our mission further by simplifying all the steps in the sales, design & build process so that our builders can focus on what they do best; closing clients, designing awesome homes, and building houses that are great for the environment.

About the Role:
In this role, you’ll build and improve exciting features for our 3D design software used by builders and designers worldwide. You’ll develop and improve individual 3D tools in our Unity-based program that help our users design their creative house designs for their clients, expand the React frontend dashboard, and more… These are things our users directly interact with, and we think that is pretty fun.
Here are some cool problems you might work on:
– Help build new tools in our software based on customer feedback.
– Help build a new interactive 3D house customizer software product hosted on builder’s websites.
– Help build new automated plan generation pages for our plan export tool.
– Help improve the performance and stability of the design software to give our users a super smooth design experience.
Other (non-Unity) things you may work on:
– Help build out and improve the 3D render tool access on our react dashboard allowing users to access their renders at any time.
As Tiny Easy is a small team in start-up mode, you’ll likely work on small other projects that are not just the core design software. This can be helping out writing Firebase functions for our dashboard, helping build custom code integrations for our Framer website, and more. You can expect to primarily work with Unity in C#, but you’ll also touch a bit of Javascript, React, Firebase, and AWS for deployment.
This Role Is a Good Fit For You If:
– You are comfortable with Unity & C# and have a proven track record of at least 5 years of building projects used by real people.
– You love code quality, architecture, and working on large maintainable projects together with a team.
– You have previous experience with Firebase Firestore, Authentication, and Storage.
– You’re comfortable with uncertainty and challenging ideas. You can take big ideas and break them down into small, concrete features and then build those incrementally.
– You like to move quickly to get your work into people’s hands, even if it means pushing your messy drafts and improving them later. We’re OK with imperfect solutions that have a really good UX and solve a real customer problem.
– You are great at communicating your ideas & thoughts and you think outside the box to challenge existing ideas.
You’ll Know You’re Succeeding in This Job If:
– You’ve built your first successful shippable feature within the first 2 weeks.
– You’re comfortable with the codebase and are finding and implementing solutions to improve its architecture and code quality as you implement new features.
– You’re working hand-in-hand with our CEO (Till), CTO (Laurin), and UX/UI designer (Eujenne) to build self-directed customer feedback-driven features for the 3D designer that our customers love using.
– You’ve built features with flexibility in mind. We can experiment on the business side of things without needing to undertake big infrastructure projects.
– Our design software is more stable and reliable because of your contributions.
More Details:
This is a mid to senior-level remote full-time contractor position.
You can live anywhere within a 5-hour timezone difference to New Zealand. (We work from Monday-Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM New Zealand Standard Time NZST).
You can work async if this works better for your lifestyle.
Your work hours and holidays observed are up to you.
The salary ranges PHP 90,000 – PHP 150,000 per month / ($1600 USD – $2700 USD per month).
Hopefully, that’s enough to keep you intrigued; here’s what you should really care about:
We’re a small team of 3 founders (Laurin, Eujenne & Till) backed by the TinySeed accelerator. We love building a solution for our customers that helps them build sustainable, affordable housing for their clients.
Virtually all customer communication, documentation, and blog posts are in writing. We are a global company, but all communication is in English. Clear writing in English is essential.
We are a remote team in New Zealand. You’ll want to be comfortable with working from home and using tools like Discord to stay connected with the team.
How We Hire People:
– We start by reviewing your resume and CV to see if your experience and career match this role.
– Then we’ll have an initial quick video chat interview (around 30 minutes) to get to know you, your career goals, and skills, chat more about your previous work, and of course, answer any questions you have about this role!
– If we like what we hear and you’re thrilled to move further, we will have a more detailed interview about your career. We’ll talk about your previous jobs, your projects, accomplishments etc.
– If you’re the right fit, we’ll work together on a mini “work sample” project. It is a small programming project that can be done within a few hours. It will be a small representation of how we create a feature from a customer-driven brief that shapes our software step by step.
– If everything goes well, the last step in the hiring process is the 1 month trial period. We’ll hire you as a contractor to get started full steam ahead. You’ll get access to the codebase and start working on your first project. This will be a small standalone project you’ll use to get acquainted with the codebase and you will ship it to production so our users can get their hands on it!
– If you love the work that you’ve done during that time and we can see that you’re a good fit for the team, we will keep you on full-time, so you can become a part of the Tiny Easy crew!
