Job Description

Looking for an ongoing WordPress developer for ongoing projects. We will start with one project as a test to see how well we work as a team.

NOTE: This will become a 10-20 hour/week position for the right candidate. The RIGHT candidate will follow the instructions for how to apply. This job posting is the first test to see how well we communicate and how well we can follow English instructions. If you can’t follow the instructions in this job post, you will not be considered.

Do not apply:
– If you do not have a portfolio of fast-loading sites (95+ PageSpeed Score)
– If you do not have excellent English, spoken and written.
– If you are just good at web development, we are only looking for those who are VERY HIGH-LEVEL.
– If you don’t have GeneratePress experience and building in the block editor. Everything is to be built in the block editor – no page builders.
– If you don’t have experience with accessibility and semantic HTML. There will be a major emphasis on both. If this is not your area of expertise, then this is not the project for you. ????

Who We Need:
– Someone who has extensive knowledge of GeneratePress, GenerateBlocks, CSS and Javascript.
– Someone who is also a designer or has a design sense or good aesthetic.
– Someone who can build fast WordPress websites.
– Someone who is fast and efficient.
– Someone who can follow directions.
– Someone who knows how to program from Figma and Photoshop.
– Someone who understands DNS, servers, and hosting.
– Someone who has Woocommerce experience.
– Someone who knows Javascript
– Someone who knows ACCESSIBILITY and how to build accessible websites

About The Job:
Your primary task will be creating custom, accessible WordPress websites per above and helping with any development-related updates and tasks for existing websites.

Speed and efficiency are highly important for both the website builds and your work.

Benefits:
– $10 – $20 per hour based on skillset
– Part-time to full-time hours
– Flexible schedule, you may set your hours but we require at least working 2-3 hours during 9-5 EST to overlap with us.
– Long term opportunities
– Work from home or anywhere you have reliable internet
– Bi-annual performance reviews with raises every 6-12 months if your performance is excellent.

Duties Included:
– Building custom-designed websites on GeneratePress including Woocommerce. Must know Guttenberg and block editor.
– Rebuilding existing websites on new tech stack.
– Manage your allocated workflow to ensure work is completed on time.
– Working collaboratively on projects and reporting project status and hours worked.
– Ability to work with tight deadlines to keep the project on schedule.
– You must have reliable internet, power, and up-to-date computer equipment.
– You must also have backup plans in case of electricity or internet outage.
– You must stay in communication daily via Slack and our PM software and be available 2-3 hours per day 9-5 EST.
– Check work and follow instructions meticulously (and go over them before you hand over work) to avoid redoing work.
– Adhere to mobile best practices, check your work before handing it off to us – add mobile styles as needed.
– You must be able to produce pixel-perfect work based on the design files.
– Accessibility is important to us and will be a big part of our test and debug process. I’m being upfront about this because it would be ideal if you code with accessibility in mind from the beginning – that will reduce the need for us to have extra rounds of revision or for you to recode things after the fact to meet standards.
– Images:
—– Register custom image sizes; in almost all cases these should hard crop.
—– It is never ok to use a full-size image
—– It is rarely ok to use a size like “medium” or “large” because they don’t hard crop and the aspect ratio is inconsistent.
—– Inspect the design in Figma/PS and register images with the correct height/width for the implementation.
—– Do not allow images to be distorted.

Personal Qualities Needed:
– Excellent English (verbal & written).
– World-class custom web development skills

How To Apply:
Follow these instructions, DO NOTHING MORE & NOTHING LESS

Apply VIA EMAIL ONLY with the subject line “I LOVE WORDPRESS”.

In the body of the email
