The Blogsmith needs help with SEO, particularly keyword research, content strategy projects like content ideation, SEO audits, and uploading the content our team creates to clients’ content management systems, such as WordPress and others.
The SEO Specialist should be passionate about conducting in-depth research on topics and brands they may not be familiar with, comfortable following thorough processes, and committed to continual improvement.

Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities/Regular Tasks:
Keyword research: Work through a list of steps and analyze data to find the best-fit keyword for proposed topics and justify them.
Content strategy/content ideation: Identify content ideas to pitch to our client, build keyword lists, conduct competitive gap analysis, market research, and topical analysis.
SEO Audits: You will work on various SEO audits depending on client needs. These could range from blog content quality audits and content cannibalization audits to full/comprehensive SEO audits (including an On-Page SEO review, content, technical audit, and backlink audit).
CMS article uploads: Ensure on-page SEO settings are correctly set when uploading articles to WordPress and other CMSes.
Other Responsibilities When Needed
Off-page SEO/Backlink building tasks
The Blogsmith has a beta offer for link building for our existing clients. You will help review our clients’ link profiles to see which page needs the most backlinks, vet link prospects, help build reports, and track performance from backlink campaigns.
Investigate link builders to determine which link-building agencies we can partner with.
Analyze backlink pitches for The Blogsmith’s website to determine if collaboration is worthwhile.
SEO Investigations:
Work with the team to share SEO knowledge and strategies. That includes sharing key takeaways from helpful resources to improve The Blogsmith’s processes and investigating other SEO tools we may add to our stack.
Technical SEO:
Keeping an eye on our SEO tool’s regular site audit of our client’s websites to check for technical issues that concern the pages we’ve written for them.
In-house: Work with The Blogsmith’s website to make on-page and technical SEO updates when needed.
SEO content briefs: You will be occasionally assigned to work on writing content briefs.
Tracking/SEO reporting: You will occasionally be assigned to monitor published articles and help track their SEO performance. This includes identifying technical issues and other opportunities that may affect our content’s performance.

SEO Skill Requirements/Desirables
In-depth knowledge of search engine optimization.
Experience working with SEO tools, specifically Semrush/Ahrefs, and working knowledge in content optimization tools like Clearscope, Frase, MarketMuse, Surfer SEO, and the like.
Excellent skills in keyword research and content ideation techniques.
Excellent skills in SEO audits, on-page SEO, and technical SEO.
Excellent writing skills.
Experience in backlink building.
Experience working with popular CMSes (e.g., WordPress).
In-depth knowledge of Internet marketing/digital marketing.
Experience in basic website design that will help you adapt more easily to content CMS upload tasks.
Ability to interpret data from Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4, and working knowledge of Google Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio).

Benefits and Compensation
$12/hour for 15 hours/week with the potential for more.
Work 100% remote.
Work whenever you want while meeting weekday deadlines for planned assignments. We typically assign SEO tasks like keyword research between Thursdays and Fridays, with the goal of completion by weekends. To ensure smooth workflow, we encourage pre-weekend work unless you can dedicate some time over the weekend.
Up to one hour per week continuing education credit: We’ll pay your hourly rate to learn about something related to content marketing.
