Position Title: Server Admin
Client: Insurance company
Job Type: Contract – 18 months
Work Arrangement: Twice onsite in Alabang
Schedule: Regular working hours (9AM to 6PM PHT)
Years of experience: At least 3 years
Salary: 60,000
JOB SUMMARY
Ensures the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability for all Windows servers and services (SQL databases & Application servers) on both premise and cloud environment (O365 and Azure) and as well as the other systems like the backup enterprise tools and DevOps tools. Work closely with the Infrastructure Architects, Developers and Systems Analyst to develop and implement new solutions to address evolving performance, new systems technologies and finding the best strategies to meet new requirements.
Principal Accountability 1:
To provide on-going support (on-site during work hours and on-call beyond office hours) in order to ensure efficient and 99% system availability on core applications.
Major Activities:
1. Attends to and completes day to day service requests. Ensures all assigned projects are accurate and completed within the set time-frame/ project deadline.
2. Defines user accounts following written procedures.
3. Complies with control procedures, policies and guidelines.
4. Replicates current environment in a new server/ region; sets up new server/ region; re-installs applications under the new server/ region.
5. Monitors and compiles system performance; handles performance tuning, capacity planning and monitoring and makes necessary recommendations
6. Defines component failure analysis (CFA) given the technical architecture.
7. Performs recovery procedures defined in the DRP in collaboration with superior and other units.
9. Installs and tests operating system updates, program fixes and utilities:
9.1. Installs security patches based on written procedures and guidelines.
9.2. Installs duly licensed software on corporate servers.
10. Raises system related issues and recommendations needing management attention and resolution. Gives immediate feedback to TSD Head regarding any problems detected through regular monitoring.
Principal Accountability 2:
Ensures timely completion of projects.
Major Activities:
1. Plans and organizes projects to ensure proper resource allocation of both manpower and computers.
2. Formulates and implements monitoring guidelines and metrics; ensures compliance to agreed ISD processes.
3. Facilitates resolution of application-related issues; negotiates with users, vendors and team members on the resolution service requests/ projects.
4. Liaises with hardware/ software vendors in relation to product, evaluation, demonstration, installation, maintenance and training concerns.
5. Documents issues raised and corresponding resolutions implemented.
6. Oversees and/ or handles system upgrade and software migration activities.
7. Leads in system/ database recovery.
8. Participates in the development, set-up and documentation of defined operations and back-up/ recovery procedures and contingency plans for system software.
Principal Accountability 3:
Performs security tasks and assists superior in training/ coaching junior staff in the technical aspects of the job.
Major Activities:
1. Performs security related tasks by defining group/ user accounts and passwords; device, directory, file and screen access permissions; and handles various violations.
2. Coaches/ trains junior staff within the department/ division and as well as end-users regarding the technicalities/ function of applications/ systems which have been implemented.
Principal Accountability 4:
Provides feedback to ITD Management by way of status reporting/ problem reporting and ensures that the documentation on systems covered are in place.
Position Requirements:
Education
The incumbent must be a college graduate with Computer Science or Engineering degree
Experience:
With at least 3 years of work experience in Data/Network and Voice Communications, Server Administration or Database Administration
Knowledge
Developed and learned the know how of the core system Ingenium application when it comes to systems transfer and upgrade.
Technical
Must have technical skills in UNIX, RDBMS, LINUX & Windows, PC or network
Must be proficient in at least one operating environment (OE) and has working knowledge of the company’s primary OE.
Transferable
The skills and ability of problem solving and can adopt and learned quickly and instantaneously to the growing support of the systems upgrade and change.
