Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and managing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of general accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a high level of accuracy in their work.
Responsibilities:
Financial Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
Process and record financial transactions, ensuring proper classification and accurate data entry.
Monitor and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Prepare and issue invoices to clients and customers in a timely manner.
Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments.
Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payment.
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable statements regularly.
Payroll and Benefits Administration:
Calculate and process payroll, including salary, commissions, and benefits.
Ensure accurate and timely payment of employee salaries and tax withholdings.
Maintain payroll records and provide necessary documentation for audits or compliance.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Generate financial reports and provide insights on financial performance.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
Tax Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with US tax regulations and assist in preparing tax returns.
Maintain proper documentation and records for tax audits.
Collaborate with external accountants or auditors as needed.
General Bookkeeping Support:
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Provide support during audits or financial reviews.
Process Improvement:
Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to streamline bookkeeping procedures.
Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or a similar role.
Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
Proficiency in using bookkeeping software and tools, such as QuickBooks or Xero.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Knowledge of US tax regulations and compliance is preferred.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus.
Relevant certification, such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or similar, is a plus.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred.
Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
Proficiency in using bookkeeping software and tools.
Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.
