Job Description:
Everyone thinks they’re a master at Social Media. You will be responsible for creating & editing raw video & verbal content, posting, and responding to followers. You uphold our athlete’s image in a cohesive way, in accordance with his brand voice guidelines.
Simple version: keep growing Owen’s reputation.
Social Media Platforms:
1. Instagram: all forms: carousel, reels, stories, surveys.
2. Twitter: is the platform of choice within the sports community for fans and coaches and recruiters.
3. YouTube: YouTube is a powerful platform for sharing longer-form and short-form videos. We focus on dense, impactful, intelligent, Ai-verified keywords to maximize reach through the algorithm and to the right audience.
4. TikTok: showcasing our athlete’s personality, skills, and behind-the-scenes moments in a fun and entertaining way. He also will have a TikTok shop of products to partner through affiliates.
5. Snapchat: creates that sense of urgency and authenticity.
6. Facebook: While Facebook may be considered more “old-school,” it still has a large user base, including parents, coaches, and other stakeholders who may be interested in following our athlete’s journey.
7. LinkedIn: LinkedIn may not be the primary platform for a 16-year-old athlete, but it can be used strategically to highlight achievements, connect with coaches and industry professionals, and showcase the athlete’s dedication and career aspirations.
8. Twitch: If the athlete is interested in live streaming gaming sessions or other interactive content, Twitch can be a platform to consider. It has a large gaming community and can help expand the athlete’s reach to a broader audience. Our current strategy is to live stream a lot on twitch so that our video editing team can have longform content to pull shorter snips from.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Let’s open and develop each of these.
We don’t have to conquer all at once.
But we do need to conquer some inside the first 30 days.
And then from day 30 to 60 we need to add at least two more platforms.
And then from day 60 today 90 we ramp up more platforms. And then we need to be on every platform listed here within X days.
Responsibilities:
Mainly define and boost Owen Egge’s social media presence
Design and implement social media strategy to align with his family’s business goals
Generate, edit, publish, and share engaging content daily (e.g., original text, photos, videos, and news)
Monitor SEO / web traffic metrics, manage ad campaigns.
Collaborate with other departments: marketing, sales, and customer service to ensure brand consistency.
Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor reviews. Perhaps the most difficult part will be adopting and reflecting Owens’s genuine personality as you reply on his behalf.
Oversee social media accounts’ design (e.g., Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures, and blog layout). Refer to the social media platforms mentioned above.
Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness, like promotions and competitions. We heart AI tools. And you will too. 🙂
Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications.
Others Notes:
As athlete manager, you should also go find trending, on-topic clips of athletes at every level and curate maybe five clips for Owen to respond to personally at the end of the day. This should be a reaction-video format. It’s super cool and trending. So, schedule a time. Let’s say 6 PM locally, which maybe that’s 7 AM Manila time, and conduct a live kind of a response stream where Owen has never seen these clips.
Summary: This social media manager needs to go find those viral, yet appropriate clips to which then Owen does his reaction.

NIL is short for “name, image and likeness.” Basically, a student athlete being able to sign NIL deals means they are able to enter into contracts to endorse products and make money off their personal brand. They can do commercials for TV, post branded ads on their social media channels and have companies do the same. It’s what professional athletes have been doing for decades.
This social media manager should aspire to even understand the deeper nuances of high school and college athletics. And his whole career trajectory. Including the controversy around compensation.
