Social Media Specialist
Hours: 20 to 25 hours per week

Job Overview:
To reach our company goals, we are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Social Media Specialist to join our business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing the social media for our brand.. This includes creating, scheduling, and publishing engaging short-form content across various social media platforms, as well as engaging, monitoring and responding to comments and messages.
The ideal candidate will not only have a passion for social media, but sees it as a community building + engagement tool. You will be expected to take content that is generated by Jay and create a visually pleasing and brand-aligned reel, carousel or standing graphic post and first draft of caption.
Posts will range anywhere from 3-5 times per week per platform, depending on what is happening in the business. There will be a 1 month trial period on this position, with the possibility of extension.. Relationships and team dynamics are one of the key values of our company and we want to make sure this is a good fit for everyone!
This position is for you if you:
Love social media platforms and creating engaging content
Have at least 2+ years of experience working in the current social media landscape (things move fast and we need you to adapt equally as fast)
Can quickly gain an understanding of the business and brand and have a knack for editing short-form content + design
Like to work independently, but are still able to have regular team calls to check-in on project statuses
Are flexible with different ways content is delivered to you
Have an open mind to how processes and systems are created for this role
Have a keen eye for attention to detail and you treat the work you do in your job with the same care as if it was your own company
Are proactive, flexible, results-oriented, and comfortable in a virtual, autonomous environment.
Value stability and are looking for a long-term fit with opportunities to grow and to contribute to growth
Have a natural gift of building and nurturing relationships
This position is NOT for you if:
You don’t like working together with the team to define best practices/processes
You don’t have good time management skills
You like to work in a vacuum and don’t like to consider or involve other team members
You are not interested in hearing feedback about videos + graphics/copy that might not be exactly what Jay is looking for
Responsibilities and Duties:
Create, edit, schedule, and publish high-quality short-form content across various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and potentially Linkedin.
Implement a social media strategy that aligns with the goals and objectives of our brand and our offers
Monitor and engage with the audience by responding to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, best practices, and algorithm changes to optimize content performance.
Non-negotiables:
You can work during normal business hours in the EST time zone
You can work remotely and have a strong and reliable internet connection
All project tasks, comments, time, etc will be tracked in the Project Management tool
You will track all time and tasks that are performed for the business
You are willing to ask questions when you don’t understand something
You like to engage with your colleagues and have fun while working!
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a social media assistant or similar role (At least 2+ years of experience)
Strong understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to create engaging short-form content, including videos, graphics, B-roll, memes and GIFs.
Strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of the podcasting industry is a plus but not required.
