SENIOR U.S. GAAP ACCOUNTANT

The right candidate will have extensive experience in:
• Reviewing and cleaning up bookkeeper’s work—reclassifying and correcting where deemed necessary
• GAAP or IFRS cost accrual accounting—experience and knowledge with accruals, prepaids, deferrals, inventory accounting, depreciation schedules, balance sheet reconciliations
• Accounting work papers

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our firm The right candidate would be responsible for preparing, reviewing and analyzing financial reports and workpapers for our cannabis clients nationwide. Our ideal candidate has an in-depth knowledge or familiarity with bookkeeping, auditing/analyzing/reviewing, and accounting workpapers. Also should have knowledge or experience with US payroll tax terminology and rates.

Responsibilities
• Analyze transactions and prepare reports; review bookkeepers’ financials and make the necessary and appropriate adjustments
• Perform regular, detailed analyses to ensure accuracy in financial documents
• Ensure proper treatment of accounting transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles—calculate accrued liabilities and journalize, calculate prepaid expenses and journalize, perform & journalize ASC 842 lease accounting entries, etc.
• Allocate payroll accruals and lease cost accounting allocations to COGS
• Perform calculations and prepare journal entries to facilitate strategies within the confines of IRC 280E (THIS ILL BE TRAINED)
• Responsible for accurate and timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare GAAP straight line depreciation schedules with corresponding useful life
• Prepare and maintain GAAP work papers, absorption accounting workpapers, and proprietary analysis work papers for IRC 280E (to be trained)
• Organize and update financial records as needed
• Analyzing historical performance and tax strategy results and summarizing for clients

Required Skills & Experience
* Proven work experience as an Accountant/CPA- minimum 5 years related experience
* Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial procedures
* Understanding and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or IFRS—accrual
accounting
* Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Office
* Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to work expeditiously and meet deadlines
* Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
* BS degree in Accounting and preferably a CPA
* Experience working with United States companies of CPA firms
* Experience reviewing “messy” books and cleaning them up efficiently
