Technical Writer – Oil and Gas Operations

Ten Four Operator Training is a Canadian-based consulting company that helps oil and gas facilities improve their Operator training systems. Our training solutions help ensure that oil and gas facility Operators excel in their jobs and return home safe every day to their families.

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced technical writer to join our team. In this role, you will use technical documentation from an oil and gas facility to develop simple, easy-to-understand Operator training documents. Your written products will be reviewed and edited by industry experts before they are integrated into our client’s training programs.

In this position, you will be part of a small team based in the Philippines that works directly with the company owner. The role is fully remote with flexible working hours. Salary is dependent on relevant experience.

Candidates will need to have:
• An excellent command of written and spoken English.
• A high level of attention to detail.
• The ability to complete projects with a minimum of supervision.
• Experience in the Operation of oil production facilities, refineries, LNG plants or other oil and gas facilities.
• The ability to read a Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Experience in any role relating to the development of training materials, delivering training, or assessing trainees is an asset.

Responsibilities:
• Develop training checklists for Operations equipment monitoring in Microsoft Excel based on a set of P&IDs.
• Develop written training material in Microsoft Word or Excel based on reference material.
• Report work progress daily.
• Provide weekly summary reports of activities and plans.

Work Schedule:
• This is a full-time remote position at 40 hours per week.
• Your hours and location of work are flexible. Choose hours that work best for you and your family.
• We ask that you be available for morning meetings Monday to Friday, Philippine Standard time.
• We honor all Filipino regular and special non working holidays, and 13th month pay.
• You’ll qualify for 10 days of paid leave annually after your 3 month probation period.

As part of the interview process, you will be asked to complete a short exercise involving Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and Operator Routine Checks.
