Job Description

We are looking for bright minded individuals who are experienced in Test Automation.

Our client is a New Zealand based company who specializes in integration. We are looking for seasoned, well-experienced Test Automation Specialists who are experts in that field as the team continually grows locally. Excellent communication and fluency in English are also a must.

Test Automation Specialist
Work in a supportive and dynamic cross functional development/ test team to perform various forms of automated testing against integration products and services. Responsible for assisting with the planning, design and delivery of testing solutions including the coding and configuration of a test framework and test suites, ensuring the Customers’ expectations are exceeded.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Design, Delivery and Solutions
• Assist in the production of test documentation such as test scripting and design.
• Troubleshooting & debugging test code.
• Provide clear descriptions of defects and how the behavior is wrong and how to replicate the behavior.
• Generate creative solutions to complex testing problems.
• Respond to change including adding or removing test cases.
• Contribute to continuous QA improvement activities.
• Prepare and present test reports that include status and coverage.
• Escalate issues as encountered in a timely manner to the appropriate Team Lead.
• Willing to work on a client site with minimal supervision.
• Write and execute manual test cases.
• Be familiar with TDD and BDD practices.
• Any other reasonable request from partner company management.

Code and Configuration
• Develop automation libraries and tools as well as configuration tools.
• Implement automated test suites using open-source tools (Citrus, Newman, Postman, JMeter, JUnit, Selenium, etc) or commercial tools.
• Follow prescribed and industry coding standards and ensure that code is version controlled.
• Participate in code reviews and be open to working in a peer programming environment.
• Work with developers to assist, train and mentor them for creating powerful automated developer tests.

Customer Focus
• Provide professional customer service ensuring that communication is always clear and appropriate.
• Act with professionalism always on both client sites and within the office.
• Ensure all behaviors positively represent the company on both the customer site and in day-to-day work activities.

Qualifications:

Educational Attainment:
• BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
• ISTQB or similar certified.

Job Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years’ Development Experience in the IT Industry.

• Solid understanding of QA principles and the software development and test lifecycle.
• Flexibility and ability to adapt with changing technology.
• Conscientious individual demonstrating attention to detail along with high levels of ownership and commitment.
• Team player who is aware of the impact they have on the internal team whilst maintaining awareness of the customer demands.
• Continuous learning of different testing requirements to ensure that the customers’ needs are met.
• Has the desire to improve self-knowledge and skills, identifying and attending relevant training workshops/seminars/online learning where appropriate.
• Display strong orientation towards ensuring client satisfaction and service delivery.
• Reliable and committed to producing a high quality of work.
• Able to cope with changing requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to engage across all levels in the business.
• Understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery approaches.
• Ability to effectively manage work processes and proactively manage situations to achieve the desired outcomes.
• To work under pressure and think clearly in challenging situations in a logical manner which may mean being pragmatic at times.
• Demonstrated proficiency in preparing client/service documentation.
• Understanding web services including SOAP and REST.
• Flexibility in dealing with change.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools and Windows based OS.

Desired / Competencies:
• Experience with Java or software/hardware engineering.
• Experience with defect management tools (e.g. JIRA).
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
