UI/UX Product Designer

Co-Foundry, a web application development company based in Johannesburg and Cape Town, is looking for a UI/UX designer on a part time basis starting with an initial project to join their team.

After learning the standards of the company, you will work with the Product Owner and client to convert wireframes and requirements documents to UI/UX interface and theme for the web or mobile based application.

The project is a web based application for the Insurance Industry and will be primarily used by internal staff. You will be required to convert the existing wireframes and requirement specifications into well structured User Experiences and User Interface that achieves the design objectives of the client whilst maintaining usability and UI/UX best practices.

Applicants need to submit 2-3 web application designs for consideration of an interview.

Your key responsibilities will be:
Converting wireframes and client requirements into designs.
Providing input and guidance on common UI/UX best practices.
Contributing to requirements specifications of the project.
Engaging with clients and other stakeholders.
Building reusable components and designs in Adobe XD.

Skills and Specifications:
3+ years of working UX design experience.
Experience designing complex solutions for complete digital environments.
Experience building responsive and mobile designs.
Expertise in UX software such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch or similar is a must.
Ability to create illustrations for stylized graphic artwork and icons.
Strong user centered design skills and experience on Web Application Designs would be a strong advantage.
Ability to iterate your designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently. Experience in an Agile environment is strongly preferred.

Beneficial Experience / Qualification (optional yet highly recommended)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design or development fields is a plus
Working knowledge of Basic HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
Experience with web frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue or others

Personal skills/attributes:
The ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical – including the ability to clearly articulate UX/UI concepts and rationale to clients and the development teams.
