THE COMPANY
We’re a rapidly scaling creative design agency in Toronto, Canada (but really, we’re global). You’ll be working with a team of multicultural talent in a 100% remote work environment, whether it’s on UX/UI Design, Brand Strategy, Visual Identity, or AI-Enhanced Creatives – we’re passionate storytellers looking for like-minded people to join the MK Way digital culture.

THE GIG
We’re looking for a skilled and dedicated UX Researcher to conduct research, and present solutions, while working alongside our UX/UI Design team. Your role will be pivotal in developing and maintaining user personas, journey maps, and other digital artifacts. As a UX Researcher, you will be instrumental in enhancing the user experience of websites by conducting thorough research and providing valuable insights to the Creative Director.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role on our UX/UI Design team (but you’ll be working with the top 1% of global talent). You’ll work alongside our Creative Director and occasionally work with the CEO. This role requires a creative thinker with a solid foundation in user experience design and information architecture (using your experience to understand the structure of sitemaps, and information hierarchies).

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and conduct exploratory, generative, and evaluative user research.
Determine appropriate research methods, and define and conduct research across multiple projects. Provide both tactical and strategic insights based on this research.
Conduct usability testing on websites under development, identifying areas for improvement in user navigation, interaction, and overall user satisfaction.
Conduct user research to identify user needs, goals, and pain points through various methods such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
Collaborate with, designers, and developers to translate research findings into actionable insights that drive product decisions.
Communicate insights and recommendations in a consumable, engaging way using digital files such as reports, journey maps, personas, and other formats as appropriate that guide our team towards a delightful developer experience.
Develop and maintain user personas, journey maps, and other artifacts to communicate user insights throughout the product development process.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in UX research and advocate for user-centered design principles within the organization.
Work closely with our UX/UI Design team to create and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and other design deliverables based on user feedback.
Effectively communicate research findings and insights to internal teams and clients, fostering a shared understanding of user needs and project goals.
Contribute to building best practices, processes, training, documentation, and standards to help evolve the research discipline.
Educate broader team on research best practices and evangelize research methods and results throughout the organization.

THE REQUIREMENTS
Previous exposure to behavioral research methods and ability to translate data and observations into a compelling story that includes recommendations for design
Experience as a user experience researcher, human factors practitioner, industrial engineer, cognitive engineer, information architect, or similar.
A degree or equivalent education in UX Research, education, or a related field.
3+ years of hands-on experience conducting user research for web development projects.
Experience creating repeatable, scalable research methods
Experience with mixed-method research and integrating the insights into our developer experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to present research concepts and insights clearly and persuasively across different audiences
Proficiency in user research methodologies, including usability testing, interviews, and surveys.
Strong knowledge of web development processes and a keen understanding of the user experience implications at each stage.
Familiarity with tools such as UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, or similar UX research platforms.
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to address challenges unique to web user experiences.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate and relevant insights for project success.
Knowledge and experience with visual communication and data visualization preferred
Ability to work in a fast-paced culture and 100% remote work environment

Would be “nice to have”:
Previous experience in a marketing/creative design agency or similar; or previous experience setting or specific UX research related to Information Architecture for websites and e-courses.
Understanding of wireframing and prototyping tools, showcasing the ability to translate Information Architecture concepts into tangible design solutions.
In-depth knowledge of conducting UX research, with a focus on assessing user interactions, information flow, and navigation.
