Verification of Benefits Associate / Verification Specialist

Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented VOB Associate to join our team. This role ensures accurate verification and documentation of patients’ insurance benefits, facilitating a smooth billing process. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of medical billing, excellent communication skills and a high level of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Verify patients’ insurance coverage and benefits with various insurance companies.
• Assist clinic owners with insurance-related inquiries.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with the billing team to ensure a timely and accurate billing process.
• Monitor and track verification status and follow up on pending verifications.
• Review and update verification procedures and guidelines regularly.
• Provide training and support to new team members.
• Prepare and maintain reports on verification activities.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in Verification of Benefits (Physical Therapy a plus).
• Experience working in a Physical Therapy or Healthcare setting (preferred)
• Familiarity with US-based insurance Companies and policies (preferred)
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and EMR/EHR software systems.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality.
• Strong understanding of basic third-party insurance plans and billing procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with insurance companies and internal teams.
• Proficiency in navigating online portals and healthcare billing software.
• Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently.
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
