Verification of Benefits Specialist
Accounts Receivable
As a VOB specialist, your main responsibilities will include verifying each patient’s insurance eligibility and benefits before the patient’s visit. Graduates with any degree & excellent spoken English skills can apply.
Job Description
Contact insurance companies online or by phone to verify patient insurance coverage. Verify eligibility and benefits for all patients with appointments including the deductible and co-pay information prior to the appointment time. Record the actions and post detailed notes on the patient profile for clinic staff to refer to prior to patient visit.
Obtain referrals/authorization/LOA for services or procedures from PCP, referring physician’s offices, or insurance company if needed.
Maintain a system for initial and subsequent verification of benefits
Use appropriate client-specific call note standards for documentation
Adhere to the client’s information security guidelines, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). A federal law that requires the creation of national standards to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient’s consent or knowledge.

Candidate Profile
Should have worked as a VOB Specialist for at least 2+ years with medical billing service providers.
Experience in medical assistance or medical billing required
Knowledge of Ophthalmology CPT codes and basic medical terminology (preferred)
Good knowledge of Medical insurance Eligibility & Benefits Verification and Prior Authorization
Positive attitude to solve problems
Ability to absorb client’s business rules
Knowledge of Officemate or Akamai is a plus.
Strong phone communication skills
Adherence to the highest ethical standards
Graduate degree in any field
