My name is Patrick Lyons, and I am a YouTuber with over 100,000 subscribers. I need a video editor for my most viral video ever.
My friends and I rented a private island in Belize and played Survivor for 72 hours. I need an editor to help make a video that shows the full experience in a Mr. Beast-style of edit. It will be fast-paced, super engaging, and will jump from one challenge to the next quickly, showcasing some B-roll footage along the way. During the 72 hours, we engaged in 17 different challenges, all of which we will want to show for at least some of the time. Total video duration target is under 20 minutes.
The biggest challenge of the project will be making it family friendly. Throughout the trip, various individuals in the video smokes electric cigarettes and cigars and drank quite a bit. I want to cut out all evidence of there having been electric cigarette usage or cigar usage. There can be some drinking shown in the context of the challenges, but it generally should be sped through. Similarly, we will want to censor any usage of curse words, or just cut them from the dialogue that makes it into the final edit. For PG-13/R-rated things, we should not show them at all. If it is crucial to the story of showing the entire experience, then I can provide a voiceover for you to add to final edit (I’m more than happy to do lots of voiceovers to make the content cohesive).
I want to make the video as viral as possible, so we will be using tactics to increase watch-time retention, such as showing a roster of players at the beginning of the video and crossing one off the roster each time someone is eliminated. And we will want to show which challenge number we’re on at every stage throughout the video. This will keep the audience hooked.
Just to provide some additional insights into the specifics of the content:
For Zack’s bachelor party, his only request was that we play Survivor.
So Friday morning at 3am, some of the local Arizonan bachelor party members kidnapped Zack, who had no idea when this trip was or where we were going.
For the subsequent 72 hours, we legitimately played Survivor on a private island in Belize.
Team captains selected us for our teams, we formed bonds, we competed against each other, and we eliminated at least one competitor from the game after every challenge. Across the three days, we competed in the following as teams:
1. Night swim – determined team captains and immunity from first tribal council
2. Flip cup
3. Chug relay (chug a beverage, run a lap)
4. Swimming relay
5. Underwater bag hunt + puzzle
6. Kayaking relay
7. Chug relay (chug a beverage + swimming two laps)
8. Breath hold
9. Century pong (pong with 50 cups per side)
10. Starting a fire
11. Decode an encrypted code, drink a beverage, solve puzzle
MERGE to one team – all individual challenges from here on out.
12. Trivia about Zack (bachelor)
13. Mini golf putting
14. Filling a cup with water using only your body
15. Rage cage (ping pong balls into cups, stacking cups when you make it first)
16. Paddle boarding king of the hill
17. Dice
There was backstabbing, drama, social game, physical game, and strategic game at every corner ????
After every game, we had tribal council where we voted someone off.
We got down to the final 3 competitors, and then each competitor got to make a case for why they should be the sole survivor. All of the previous competitors got to ask questions to help make the final decision.
And ultimately, the sole survivor was picked based on the tribal council’s votes.
Zack made it to the top 5 because he’s legitimately an incredible competitor, but ultimately one of the bachelor party members who played an amazingly strategic game came out on top.
