Project Context: I have a business called Undercover User where we become a customer of another business, document the entire customer experience, and provide recommendations. The footage by itself is for research/consulting purposes. Recently, we were hired by an Axe-throwing business to document their experience & provide recommendations.
Project Goal: I’d like to make a Youtube Video that is entertaining to the average viewer (in a way that indirectly shows what my business is all about). For the youtube channel, I care about creating entertainment value for future viewers rather than marketing my business (this will gradually shift as we grow our followers).
Here is the Raw video footage of the Axe throwing experience (at then end of this document is a link with more raw footage that is optional to use): /drive/folders/19Ve2L9wpcNBkWijBft_Fyd3PTsN9AwFs?usp=share_link
My initial editing of the footage (i am NOT a professional video editor): /watch?v=aXOI-W_Hq2c
A previous video editor delivered the following:
/t-FDAUjcUYFj. Here are things I liked about his editing:
He chose great, entertaining clips from the raw footage.
The intro structure was smart (he showed highlights at the very beginning, had an intro animation (i didn’t like the animation itself but i liked THAT he had an animation), and started at the first part of the Axe-Throwing journey (navigating to the location). This engaged the viewer and set up the context well.
He included music (i didn’t necessarily love the music he chose, but I loved THAT he included music). NOTE: I do NOT plan to monetize this content right now so feel free to use any music that won’t get the video taken down by youtube.
Things I did NOT like about his editing:
Except for the beginning of the video, the overall video lacked structure. While the clips he selected were entertaining, I felt lost as a viewer. For instance, there were some low-lights (us missing the target) and high-lights (us hitting the target) but it was shown at random times in the video without context.
The emojis he used were weird.
The animations felt low-quality.
The screen-recordings weren’t perfectly synced
My favorite style:
NELK boys make absolutely fantastic Youtube videos that are extremely entertaining. And the sound-effects, transitions, etc. that they use are really cool. I love their style and would like to mimic it. Here is a video with instructions on how to film like Nelk:

Note: There is likely an opportunity for me to film more footage to help give the video context and make it more entertaining. I’d like your guidance on what footage to film if so.
The only other raw footage can be downloaded here with Passcode “wNb.$RY8” (it is from the meeting between myself and the Axe-Throwing business owners. If you include any of it, please make sure it portrays them positively…I will ask for their approval before posting anything on Youtube):

Final thoughts:
If you are a video editor who is interested in taking on this project…I’d love to see any work you’ve done that is similar to this, an estimate of how much you’d charge, and a timeline of when you can deliver by.
P.S. I have the utmost respect for video editors. Condensing reality in a way that is entertaining & easily share-able is a very difficult, but incredibly valuable task.
