Video Editor (Must use Descript)

We are seeking a talented and creative Video Editor to join our team full-time. The primary responsibility will be to manage and enhance our existing content, transforming it into engaging and educational lessons for our learning management system.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in using Descript, our primary editing platform, to edit and refine our video materials, including Video Sales Letters (VSLs), Zoom recordings, and other teaching content.

Key Responsibilities:

Extract and edit content from our learning management system using Descript.
Create compelling lessons by segmenting longer training videos into shorter, modular videos.
Clean up and improve video quality using Descript’s features.
Rapidly turn around videos for quiz outcomes and other teaching materials.
Manage a backlog of Zoom recordings, editing and organizing them as needed.
Collaborate with the team to generate ideas for making content more engaging.
We are looking for full time (or more possibly for candidates looking for more hours)

Requirements:

Proficiency in using Descript (access will be provided).
Ability to comprehend and segment educational content effectively.
Background knowledge in therapy, psychology, counseling, or related fields.
Responsiveness on Slack and Trello, with the ability to communicate within several hours.
Patience and skill in refining content, removing unnecessary parts, and producing high-quality final videos.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a teacher or instructor, particularly in front of a classroom.
Fluent in English.
Currently a psychology graduate student or possess video editing experience.

Pay Structure:

This is a full time hourly paid position, with additional bonuses for content that performs well in terms of sales.

To ensure we find the best fit for our team, candidates will undergo the following screening process:

Portfolio Submission: Applicants are required to provide a portfolio showcasing videos they have personally edited. This should include examples of educational or instructional content, if available. The portfolio should demonstrate your proficiency with video editing software, particularly Descript, and your ability to create engaging, informative content.
Descript Editing Challenge: Candidates will be given a specific video editing task to be completed within a set deadline using Descript. This challenge will assess your technical skills, creativity, and ability to work under time constraints. It will involve editing a provided piece of raw footage into a cohesive, engaging lesson or training video, showcasing your ability to enhance educational content.
Optional – Additional Creative Work: If applicable, candidates may also submit a portfolio of any additional creative work, such as graphic design, animations, or other multimedia content. While this is not a requirement, it can provide further insight into your overall creative abilities and versatility as a video editor.
