Job Description

Video Editor for social media post – LinkedIn, X, and YouTube – Can you use the technology AND tell a story?

As an industry analyst, I use videos to share interviews, new product discoveries, or market and industry insights. I want to focus on content capture and need a trusted person to convert this into short-form videos that tell a story.

My ideal video editors will be able to take my content and a project plan/creative brief and convert it into an engaging and interesting video. But to be clear, it is not just about knowing your way around the editing software; it’s about helping me tell a story with video within the brand parameter that I set.

Sample videos can be found on my YouTube channel or on my LinkedIn profile.

Objectives of this role
• Maintain a high bar for video marketing deliverables – this is my personal brand, and I need help maintaining it
• Ensure consistency in content
• Identify and implement improvements in the video editing process
• Produce content for diverse audiences and platforms, including LinkedIn, X, and YouTube
• Keep up to date with the latest video marketing trends
• Wherever possible, offer suggestions to enhance social media and overall marketing strategies

Responsibilities
• Edit short- and long-form videos (no more than 15 minutes) for use on my website, in presentations, and on my social media accounts.
• Ensure videos meet my specifications and guidelines
• Leverage creative notes from me to create content, but eventually need someone who can also contribute to the definition of my brand and creative style
• Evaluate projects for brand authenticity

Skills and qualifications
• Familiarity with video editing software Premiere Pro. You MUST have your own current version of Premiere Pro and a subscription to an online resource Moton Array for MGRTs, b-roll, fonts, graphics, and so forth
• Familiarity with Canva to create YouTube Thumbnail images
• Capacity to communicate effectively
• Attention to detail
• Ability to pick out attention-grabbing shots
• Excellent storytelling skills
• Knowledge of basic editing principles
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to work with multi-track split audio
• Knowledge of aspect ratios
• Experience with high-resolution file transfer applications
• Understanding of video encoding formats
• Talent for sound design

Typical Workflow
• I will provide 1080p primary and B-roll footage from the project. I will also provide MOGRTS that I currently use for scene transitions and lower thirds for names and titles.
• You must have all your own software and online resources, including your own version of Premiere Pro and access to a resource website such as Motion Array for MGRTs, b-roll, fonts, graphics, and so forth.
• I will provide a video intro that I created in Canva, but I will eventually enable you with my template so that you can create this and a thumbnail for each video.
• Deliverables will include one 1080p FULL HD video in 16:9 ratio, all project files in Premiere Pro, one to three video shorts created from the main content ( formats will include 1:1, 4:5, and 9:16), one YouTube video thumbnail.
• Final videos can range in length from 5-15 minutes, with most being 5-8 minutes.
• I average about one video request per week and have experience with other editors who complete each video in 4 to 6 billable hours.

Here is a sample creative brief and what I expect

PROJECT NAME – Kristen Koenig interview

SECTION ONE – special notes on this content
• The goal of this video is to really push you to listen to the videos and craft a story out of the copy.
• You do not need to use all of the dialogs.
• Do think of telling a story with an intro, a middle, and an end.
• I like the opening part of the main video, which lets us get to know Kristen. Please use that.
• For the middle part, focus on 3 of my questions. Please pick what you think is interesting.
• For the end, you can use the natural exit that I use, including the last question I ask. ( this will give you a total of 4 questions and answers about the product she is the VP of.
• Please reference previous videos from Arvin for smart quote style, cold intro/blooper, and outro.
• Reference Kristen’s LinkedIn profile for Title and spelling –

SECTION TWO – Here is my outline for this project
Scene 1 (cold opening)
• Files found in 1b – Koenig
• DO NOT USE ALL OF THE VIDEO. Use some cuts and edits styling (with color bar, beeps, and muted colors to simulate a blooper reel) and focus on the humor of how long it takes to get a cup of coffee.
Scene 2 (canned intro)
• Use the generic Canva intro as a placeholder. I will make one after I see the edits you propose.
• Use the signature soundtrack in the music folder.
Scene 3( the interview)
• There is only one file, so it’s up to you to shine as an editor/storyteller 🙂
• Be sure to use the lower thirds to introduce myself and to introduce Kristen Koenig, RVP of RingCentral Events.
• If you can find anything in the coffee-making or general b-roll, please add it. But please do not force it. Secondly, if you use the footage for the cold opening, do not repeat it as ab-roll.

SECTION THREE- GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
• Please view this content more as a conversation, not a strict “question, then answer” interview. Same guidance as in the past; feel free to show some of the moments in between questions to add personality
• Please target a final piece of about 4-7 minutes unless noted otherwise in the “Special notes on this content” section. Ideally, this will have 3-4 questions and answers.
• Please clean up the audio; there is background noise from others talking at one point.
• Please use zoom and crop techniques with the main video (or a second camera when provided) to make the visuals more dynamic. If needed, feel free to cut out pieces of video for smoother flow.
• Yes, we will need micro content for posting on YouTube shorts, but we request that those be worked on after the full video is delivered. ( sizes 1×1, 4:15, 9:16)

SECTION FOUR- FOLDER ORGANIZATION
I am giving you access to the main folder called “2024-02 RingCentral Summit.” All files for this project are in the “Asset” folder.

FOLDER NUMBERING AND CONTENT
1b – Koenig
2 – video intro outro logos graphics-
• You will find a video intro and a graphic overlap for the outro and any logos of companies mentioned during the videos.
• For the intro, please add the signature soundtrack like in the examples.
• For the outro graphic, you may delete the embedded music and align the new music as you see fit. For the outro, please extend the graphics and soundtrack for 4 seconds after the end of the video and fade to black at the end.
• For the logos, use them as needed or requested by me as graphical overlays at the point the company is introduced in the video.
3 – motion graphics –
• “Smart Quote” motion graphic to use for a transition between questions. Do fade to black, then to the MOGRT, and then back to the interview. Please use the brand soundtrack with ducking during the MOGRT and fade back to the interview
• Lower-thirds MOGRTs are for when I am first on the main video ( not the cold opening/bloopers, but the main video) and when my guest is introduced.
4 – music –
• Contains by current signature soundtrack for use during the intro, smart quote transitions, and closing
• If you/we add anything new, please add it to this folder.
5 – B Roll –
Please use B-roll content wherever possible.
