Virtual Assistant

Seeking a motivated, efficient, and talented virtual assistant.
Your job will be to handle administrative and customer service tasks and also to promote our companies’ presence on the internet, especially on Youtube and through other social media. WHEN YOU RESPOND, TELL ME WHY YOU ARE INTERESTED IN WORKING SPECIFICALLY FOR US!

Our main family business is Click to view. It focuses on education for grades 1-12. Jamie York is an author of a mathematics curriculum called Making Math Meaningful. His books have led to the creation of online teacher workshops for school teachers and homeschool parents.

Husband and wife team, Jamie and Karen, also have an online homeschool academy called Jamie York Academy. It mainly focuses on math for homeschool students, but recently, we added science and language (Spanish), as well as a few humanities courses.

Jamie York is a Waldorf educator, but our goal is to reach out now also to families who are unfamiliar with Waldorf educational philosophy, but with whom our approach to teaching resonates – teaching that is developmentally based and supportive of the holistic development of the whole human being.

We are looking for a full-time, long-term person dedicated to growing with our businesses.

We also have a couple of other small businesses related to natural death care education (Karen van Vuuren’s specialty).

Tasks to start will focus on Jamie York Press/Jamie York Academy
~ Learn all about Jamie’s approach to teaching math. You do not need to be a math whiz, but it would be helpful if you had a genuine interest in math education and/or education in general for grades one through twelve.
~ Familiarize yourself with our various offerings, – books, online workshops, free resources available on our website, Jamie York Academy courses.
~ Familiarize yourself with our communication style with parents – how we respond to inquiries as you will also have this task. Inquiries you cannot handle, you will forward to us (Jamie and Karen).
~ Familiarize yourself with how we currently deliver materials/courses.
~ Familiarize yourself with how we keep records of who is in our academy and the payments for tuition.
~Respond to routine inquiries, update spreadsheets, reminders for tuition payments, etc.
~Youtube – Look at all our materials on Youtube – talks by Jamie etc., and research how to make the most of this platform to spotlight our offerings. Optimizing our presence on Youtube will be the first thing we do. What needs to happen in order for our Youtube channel to be optimized. We want you to investigate that and then let us know how it can happen.
~ Generate Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest and Google My Business Posts using blog articles written and/or YouTube videos created. You will need to make a full inventory of the current content and then come up with ideas for more content that would be impactful – perhaps harvesting material from what is already there/transcribing etc. Jamie will be creating more material in a couple of months after he has finished his current teaching gig for the academy.
~ Schedule posts to the platforms using a social media posting platform.

Skills desired Include:
~ High level of written and spoken English
~ Familiarity with all social media platforms
~ Responsiveness and reliability
~ Ideally able to transcribe video content into an article, even with the help of software like DeScript or others
~ Ideally would have Photoshop access and basic skill with some design flair
~ Able to edit video and repost – add subtitles etc
~ Integrity, Commitment, and Desire to learn and grow
~ Fast learner with a willingness to ask questions, communicate needs, and work as a team
~ Commitment to deadlines
~ Willingness to share ideas to help in growing following and lead generation for products, courses, and programs
~ Alignment with authentic marketing principles that focus on communicating the quality of our offerings in a sophisticated but clear way
~ A friendly demeanor and a sense of humor!

JamieYorkPress is an educational publisher of books and online media Click to view. Jamie is primarily known as a Waldorf math missionary, but the goal is for his appeal to reach beyond Waldorf education. His approach, with which you should familiarize yourself, is about teaching math in a way that develops creative and critical thinking, problem-solving and our imagination.

We will work directly with you to help in creating a process that is effective and consistent for the business and all those connected to it (clients and workers). This may include providing you with some courses for added learning, creating standard operating procedures, supporting you with your questions, etc. We would like an assistant that will begin with administrative tasks and also basic social media tasks to help grow our marketing process to include other outreach. It is important that you are interested in growing together with us!
