Job Description

Our Medico Legal Associate needs to have expertise not only in the field of medicine but a complete understanding of complexities related to medical-legal laws is also required. He / She should have a deep understanding of laws along with clinical experience and medical expertise.

Basically, Our Medico Legal Associate Provides an administrative / secretarial service for the provision of medico-legal, coroner and police matters.

D U T I E S A N D R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S

Administrative Duties
• Receives and processes all legal, coronial and police requests, this includes making sure all relevant information is received and if not, organizing companies/police to provide it
• Assists hospital personnel including medical staff in work practices and procedures in relation to Medico-Legal Services
• Provides general administrative assistance to Medico-Legal Services including data entry, records maintenance, drafting correspondence and collating documentation

Secretarial Duties
• Uses hospital database to find medical record numbers, receives medical records into the section and keeps a record of all medical records held in Medico-Legal Services
• Prepares police statements and reports from the treating doctors’ medical notes, types report/statement and delivers to relevant doctor for signature.
• Photocopies typed legal letters, reports/statements and files reports in the relevant medical record and then posts original copies with correct receipt and tax invoice.

Medical Transcription
• Converting transcribed diagnostic test results, procedures, and consultation notes into applicable report formats
• Identifying and following up on inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within a transcribed report
• Submitting transcriptions to healthcare professionals for their approval in a timely manner
• Performing additional tasks such as following up and revising patient history, as well as entering medical reports into
electronic health records systems.
• Protecting patient confidentiality and adhering to legal requirements.

Education and Work Background
• Graduate of B.S. Nursing, Professional degree or diploma in medical law and ethics or any equivalent field
• At least 3 years of proven work experience in medical / clinical field
• R.N is required
