VSL Video Editor & Content Researcher

Hey, I’m looking for a direct-response VSL ads video editor.

The most important thing I need is someone who can SOURCE engaging content for scroll-stoppers and hooks (first 3 seconds).

Previous experience with content sourcing and video editing for direct-response style video ads for social media (facebook, youtube, tiktok) is needed.

So please attach any previous work with samples from clients.

Here’s what the process will look like:

I send you a script. And most of your time should be spent sourcing content for scroll-stoppers. Depending on the task I’d want anywhere from 20-40 clips to be sourced for ss. Then when we approve the best ones. You can go ahead and edit the rest of the video ad.

Other requirements:

– Good English communication – your English doesn’t have to be perfect or anything. I just want to understand each other and not go over the same points multiple times.

– SPEED – I’m looking for someone who is FAST. I don’t want to give you a 2 min video and you editing it 2 days…

– Creativity and ability to solve problems on your own – in some cases, it may be harder to find ideas for scroll-stoppers. That’s when you’ll have to get a bit creative. Maybe spy on winning ads. Or youtube thumbnails. Or tiktok trends. Or you may need to combine 2 ideas into one (for example do a split-screen scroll-stopper and add 2 scenes). Or when the scene is not engaging enough, you may need to edit it a bit – do some fast cuts, animate images, or whatever is necessary to make it better.

Since I’ll get tons of applications, to help me pick the best candidates, I’ll give you 3 small tasks for finding scroll-stoppers.

The scope of this “test” is to see if you understand what is needed to make an engaging and attention-grabbing scroll-stopper.

And also to see how creative you are in finding content on the internet. (You can use youtube, tiktok, Instagram, stock footage, images, ANYTHING you want).

Here’s some context:

This is for an anti-aging skincare product for women over 40. If you are going to use models, the older the model is, usually 60+ the better it works. (Of course, the model has to look good that goes without saying). We’re selling beauty and youth.

For each task, I’d like you to send me 5-10 (3-5 sec) clips (with the timestamps included).

Now this may sound like a lot, and you may have to spare a few hours of research to find them…

However, most people won’t bother searching for them. And they’ll just send me their portfolios, which I’m not more interested in than in the things I need for my own business.

So if you do these sample tasks to the best of your ability, your chances of getting hired are EXPONENTIONALLY higher.

Even if your previous work portfolio isn’t the best, you’ll still have a 99% higher chance of getting hired if you do show me that you understand what I’m looking for… than someone who has done this for 10 years but is too lazy to send me the tasks I’m asking for.

Even if you don’t end up being hired, but you did a good job on finding the SS, I can hire you part/full-time to search for scroll-stoppers only.

So it will be worth investing your time into this task.

Also I have given you some of the hardest hooks to find ss for on purpose, because I want to see how creative you are.

BE CREATIVE!

Everything is allowed as long as it’s RELEVANT and NOT BORING.

It should GRAB ATTENTION. It should make the user scrolling STOP DEAD in her tracks.

Combine scenes together if needed.

Use split-screen.

***The only thing that is not allowed are before and after transformations. And also zoomed in body parts (like faces).
