Web Development and Optimization Specialist

We’re seeking a meticulous and skilled individual to fulfill the role of Contract Web Development and Optimization Specialist. As a vital contractor within our team, you’ll be instrumental in the success and performance of our Token of Trust website by ensuring adherence to best practices in web development and optimization for search engines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with the marketing team and graphic designer to implement visual designs, enhance web usability, and ensure adherence to brand consistency, high-quality graphics, and code standards.
• Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams to implement split tests, website updates, and various partnership tasks.
• Use knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JS to build and style web pages.
• Maintain a lightweight code base to ensure the website’s high performance.
• Enhance web page speed and efficiency by identifying and resolving front-end issues, including broken links, layout problems, and JavaScript errors. Employ optimization techniques like minification, lazy loading, and markup languages for a smoother user experience.
• Commitment to maintaining high-quality, clean code by conducting tests and quality checks ensuring the functionality and usability of web pages and addressing any bugs or issues that may arise.
• Regularly monitor site performance using tools like Google Page Insights and Lighthouse, taking proactive measures to enhance accessibility, page speed, and SEO optimization.
• Implement alt tags and descriptions across website content for SEO enhancement.
• Maintain JSON-LD for SEO purposes, enhancing search engine visibility and site ranking.
• Utilize familiarity with WordPress for facilitating website maintenance and updates.

REQUIREMENTS
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and SCSS.
• Strong technical SEO knowledge and experience in implementing SEO best practices.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to adhering to brand styles and established best practices.
• Strong problem solving skills and experience with web development tools and optimizing website performance.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Capacity to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Include your favorite CMS to build on in your cover letter. This is here to test your attention to detail.
• Demonstrate an aversion to code practices that compromise quality and maintainability, such as spaghetti code, lack of comments/documentation, hardcoding values, ignoring security practices, using deprecated or insecure libraries, inefficient algorithms or data structures, mixing presentation logic with business logic, lack of error handling, over-reliance on copy-pasting, and ignoring performance optimization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity with JavaScript and front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).
• Experience with building sites on WordPress.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Previous experience in web optimization and performance monitoring.
• Certification in web development or related field.

SCHEDULE & HOURS
• This contract role entails an ongoing commitment of 10-15 hours per week, offering flexibility in scheduling to accommodate your availability.
• Recurring meetings are scheduled 1-2 days per week during the Central Time Zone, within the range of 8 am to 5 pm, ensuring effective collaboration with the team.
• You have the autonomy to structure your work hours according to your preferences, facilitating a healthy work-life balance while excelling in this dynamic role.

COMPENSATION
• $12 USD per hour
