Web Publishing Operations Manager

Job Summary: As a Web Publishing Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a small startup web publishing company. You will be the first employee of the company but will eventually lead a team of writers, editors, and coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate publication of content on the portfolio of 20+ company websites. Your role will involve managing the content management system (WordPress), implementing best practices for web publishing, and ensuring the overall quality and performance of published content.

Hours \ Project Length: This project is initially expected to last 3 – 6 months. Possibility of extending will be analyzed. Flexible schedule. 8 hours a day. Prefer someone that can work Monday – Friday, US Hours somewhere between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM preferred. Must be able to self-pace and work from tasks outlined in our project management system (Kanban board, tickets, chat, email, etc.)

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of web publishers. Set clear expectations, establish goals, and monitor performance to ensure the team’s success.

Being an early employee you’ll be heavily involved with developing SOP’s \ Templates for various types of blog posts (List, Informational, Question, etc.) which will be followed by future writers that will be onboarded. May assist in writing the first 10 blog articles for each site. This will provide a foundation for each site and also aid in developing the best SOP’s \ Templates for future writers.

You will also be heavily involved with the structure and design of each of the 20+ sites being brought online, all in various different niches. We have one site already online which can be used as a reference of how the rest of the sites will need to be structured. All sites will use the exact same theme & template to keep things as uniform and streamlined as possible.

The Operations Manager will need to be able to research the niche \ subject of the site, compare it to similar sites on the web, and determine the best structure for site pages, tags, categories, headers, etc.

Our IT Team will be responsible for all server operations and technical setup of the sites.

The Content Team will be responsible for keyword research, writing posts, etc.

Prefer someone with experience in a similar role with a company that maintained a portfolio of multiple content websites.

Content Management: Oversee the content management system (WordPress) and ensure its effective utilization for web publishing activities. Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot technical issues and optimize the CMS for streamlined publishing workflows, display ads, etc.

Content Publishing: Coordinate and prioritize the publishing of web content across multiple websites. Ensure content is accurately tagged, formatted, and optimized for search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.

Quality Assurance: Develop and enforce quality control processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines in all published content. Conduct regular audits to identify and address content-related issues.
