Web Scraper Developer

As the successful applicant, you will work with the owner to develop a custom web scraper and store results in a MySQL database. You should be very proficient with Python, MySQL, Selenium and/or Beautiful Soup, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant technologies. If you are a hard worker, problem solver, and want to build something great, this is the position for you.

It is okay if you are not an expert, as this is a position where you can learn and add skills as you go. This custom project will involve many tweaks, adjustments, and improvements that will be constantly added. You will need to be resourceful, enjoy researching answers, and be proactive in solving new challenges as they occur.

You should be adept at interpreting HTML, JavaScript, and complex XPaths to find specific data points. You will oversee the running of the web scraper, review results for accuracy, ensure their accurate placement in the database, and make any necessary changes to the scraping logic. There is a back-end data analysis process that you will also help develop, currently performed in Excel. The project will grow over time, and you will help determine the best infrastructure as needed.

You will have significant freedom in technology and approach and will not be micromanaged. You are welcome to work in your local time zone but will need to be willing to adjust your schedule as needed for periodic meetings with the owner.
