Job Description

Do’s:

Refresh the website
The layout isn’t something we’re hoping for.
Need to add a couple more tabs at the top with corresponding additional content.

We’d like a system/interface where it is easy for us to add or change project photos and other content
Our website is built using WordPress and we’ve seen some other competitor websites that we like better and are built using WordPress too. So, I think we could stay with WordPress. Or should we move to a different platform?
We’re not happy with the font sizes, graphics, tab layout, photo and project accessibility, etc.

Our website needs an artist’s polish (a feel for user experience)

We want to change the following:

Refreshed Layout – I am happy with the overall color scheme, but the layout needs to be refreshed. The website now looks too “blocky”. Not smooth. Confusing and disjointed.

Add a few additional graphics that would complement our work in Refrigeration -HVAC-Construction

Ensure compatibility with iPhone mobile platform

Add a “Team” page that lets our COO post reference documents; this will be password protected, Add this“Team” Tab to the top that employees would use to login to an employees-only intranet, where certain documents would be for reference (e.g., employee handbook, insurance benefit info, policies and training materials)

Add a “Bill Pay” page that redirects to our credit card processor pay site URL
Add a “Bill Pay” tab that customers would use to pay invoices by credit card, if they want.
Our Website is currently hosted with WP Engine, a host that is specific for WordPress sites. Its user interface for adding content is horrible. We want a better user interface for adding blog posts, new project photo albums, and employee-intranet content.
That means we will probably have to move to a platform that’s not WP Engine. Will WP Engine have a better interface if we pay for a higher tier of service? We don’t know. The Website designer should be able to tell us this, and if we move to another host, We want a demo of the user interface for us to add content before approving the move.

Dont’s:
We don’t need a lot more functionality or interactivity
We’re not going to be selling any product or service on the site
We don’t need a radical change
But the layout isn’t something we’re hoping for

Our current website has:
-11 pages
-9 project photo albums
-A contact page
-An integration to JazzHR (our recruiting software)
-A couple of videos

Here are some sample websites of companies in our industry that we like. We would like to see a bid and samples of their work from 2-3 different contractors.
