Job Overview: Bay Leaf Digital is seeking a talented and motivated WordPress Developer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining WordPress websites for our clients. Depending on your skills, you may also have the opportunity to work on other front-end applications outside of WordPress.

Responsibilities/ Job Description:
1. Develop custom WordPress themes and templates from scratch or modify existing themes to achieve desired designs and functionalities.
2. Build and customize WordPress plugins to add unique features and enhance the functionality of WordPress sites.
3. Collaborate with designers and back-end developers to ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end code.
4. Ensure the website’s responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility for optimal user experience across different devices and browsers.
5. Optimize website performance and loading speed to deliver a smooth and fast user experience.
6. Implement and maintain WordPress security best practices to protect websites from vulnerabilities and potential threats.
7. Work with third-party APIs and integrations to extend the capabilities of WordPress sites.
8. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WordPress themes, plugins, and other website components.
9. Stay up-to-date with the latest WordPress trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our development processes

Requirements/ Candidate Profile:
1. Proven work or project experience as a WordPress Developer.
2. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP with a deep understanding of how these technologies integrate with WordPress.
3. Familiarity with popular page builders and visual editors for WordPress like Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg.
4. Experience in developing custom WordPress themes and plugins using best practices and coding standards.
5. Strong attention to detail and ability to translate design mockups and wireframes into high-quality front-end code.
6. Understanding of website performance optimization techniques, including caching, asset minification, and image compression.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and debug WordPress-related issues.
8. Solid understanding of WordPress security best practices and experience in implementing security measures.
9. Strong communication skills.
10 .1-3 years of web development – WordPress development or Front-End development or similar work/project experience.
11. Ability to work during US hours.
12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in computer science engineering/technology
2. Consulting/Freelancing experience will be considered a plus
3. Knowlege in JavaScript, jQuery, and NodeJS will be considered a plus
4. UI and UX (i.e. Front End Development) work or project experience will be considered a plus
5. Familiar with Agile
6. WordPress-related certifications such as “WordPress Certified Developer” or similar credentials (preferred).
7. Certifications in relevant programming languages and technologies (e.g., PHP, JavaScript, CSS) are a plus.

Key Skills:
1. String understanding of WP plugin and WP theme development
2. Solid knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for building dynamic websites
3. Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.
