Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) with a strong understanding of Australian Tax Laws to join our team as our Certified Xero Bookkeeper. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial records of our own business using Xero, ensuring timely and accurate bookkeeping, and providing outstanding financial support to facilitate the growth and success of our company.
Initial expectation is approximately 20 hours per week, however, as we grow, we expect this to eventually be a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and maintain accurate financial records for our business using Xero, including processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and generating financial statements.
2. Set up and configure our Xero account to optimize efficiency and accuracy in bookkeeping.
3. Support the external company accountant to prepare accurate BAS, IAS, and other required tax reports in compliance with Australian Tax Laws on behalf of our company.
4. Process and prepare company invoices, ensuring timely and accurate billing and collection of payments.
5. Manage payroll functions, including processing pay runs, calculating leave entitlements, and ensuring compliance with Australian Superannuation regulations.
6. Analyse financial data, identify trends, and provide recommendations for improving the company’s financial performance.
7. Work closely with other team members and management to provide comprehensive financial support and insights.
8. Stay up-to-date with the latest Xero features, updates, and best practices, ensuring the most efficient and effective use of the software.

Requirements:
1. Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, with a focus on using Xero accounting software.
3. In-depth knowledge of Xero features, integrations, and best practices including relevant Xero certification.
4. Strong understanding of Australian Tax Laws, accounting principles, and regulations.
5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
7. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
